Alexander McQueen A/W 2006

Look closely at the enthralled faces of the audience. It's the Alexander McQueen effect in full force. It's the kind of joy you normally only see on kids faces when they open a present or see magic. Lee McQueen's designs were a magical present to the fashion world.

This was his 2006 a/w collection famous for the Kate Moss hologram finale.

It's a definitive McQueen collection full of his motifs such as flowers, birds, butterflies, tartan, feathers and lace.

Lee would refine and develop these ideas in later collections.
2008

Lee toned down the birds horror theme above compared to the freaky 2001 look.

Tartan was a dominant look and a tribute to his Scottish background.

Scottish fantasy heroines was the vibe.

Just look at how his tartan designs are nowadays rocked
by A-listers.

Rihanna and Chloe look lush.

The dress above was an influence on this 2008 a/w Queen bank note dress.

Lee was on top form.

Finally
Love these pics of Lee's masterpieces shown as part of the Savage Beauty exhibition at the Met Museum.
